25 of our members and guests enjoyed a beautiful sunny day on our annual May outing \u2013 this year we had a more local visit to Chester. We travelled by coach, where everyone was given a map of the centre and a short talk on different aspects of the history and layout of the city. We arrived at ‘the Groves’ in time to enjoy an ice-cream, a drink, or a short stroll before taking a trip on ‘Mark Twain’ which took us on a 2hr return trip along the river, passing many beautiful riverside dwellings and then through the Eaton estate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We all walked up through the Roman Gardens, admiring the beautiful cherry blossom and past the amphitheatre to the Eastgate Clock where we had a couple of hours to do our own thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of our members took a leisurely stroll along the walls, stopping for a drink in the sun overlooking the Roodee racecourse. Others spent time walking around the shops and cafes. A very sociable and enjoyable day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
