WI RAMBLE…and a “selfie” in the Woods

selfie log woodsjpg

It must have been the heat, hence our first ever selfie. On the hottest day of the year only 5 of Whitley WI’s intrepid explorers made it to Style Country Park for a wonderful walk through Style woods, following paths, up and down steps, over bridges and streams, dodging the muddy paths and the mosquitoes, ending up walking along the edge of Manchester Airports 2nd runway, in the presence of jumbo jets.  A cool shower was enjoyed by all of us (not together) on our return home. Thanks go to Ann O’Brien for her transport and organisation…a true leader. For a full report by Sue Burtonwood click here.

Fri 1st July.
Science was the subject..infact the Magic of Plastic!

Young minds enjoyed finding out why different plastics are very different.
They melted and reshaped plastic granules.. bouncy balls, ducks and cobras emmerged.
Investigating how nappies soak up water, saw younger siblings in a new light, and from now on every child will use the home recycling bins in a different way…

The pupils all headed off home to educate their parents.

THE ROYAL CHESHIRE SHOW 2016

cheshire show entry Whitley Cheshire Show flowersWI, entered, didn’t win, but enjoyed all the team work which led up to our entry.

This combined Co-Operative was entitled “Far Horizons”.
Whitley “travelled” to a South African Sunset… Tribal flowers, sundowner rusks, a painted sunset, and the most beautiful knitted lion, set the scene.

Taking part was the most important aspect of this wonderful occasion.
Congratutations do go to Ann O’Brien.. her photograph of gondolas in Venice was highly commended. Well done Ann
